The Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) helps Ontarians recover from hardship and regain control of their lives. They offer two different social assistance programs:

  • Ontario Works provides income and employment supports to people who are in temporary financial need, and;
  • Ontario Disability Support Program provides income and employment supports to people with disabilities.

The Home Adaptations for Seniors’ Independence (HASI) program offers financial assistance for low-income seniors wishing to make minor home renovations to help their house adapt to mobility issues. HASI requires participants to be 65 years or older, in a permanent residence, with the household income at or below the program income limit for the area.

Veterans Affair provides disability benefits to individuals who have a service-related disability.
